ARIL RIVER

Arìl is the name of the very short watercourse that runs through a part of the hamlet of Cassone. The small river is a potential drinking water source for the inhabitants of the area as well as being a singular environmental resource, both from a structural and a landscape point of view. Despite the short distance of only 175 meters the river Arìl crosses three bridges and has a waterfall. The river flows into Lake Garda and has a decent water flow with average values of 1.5 m3 / sec. From 1889 to 1913, the source of the Arìl was exploited by a power plant and supplied energy to the wheel of two mills and an oil mill. The source is located in the historic center of the hamlet of Cassone, a few meters from the lake level. At the source you find a spring, which forms a pond, there the water is very fresh and the trouts go up the river to lay their eggs. Near the mouth of the small river you will find the Museo del Lago di Cassone. During the Christmas holidays at the source of the river Arìl you can see the great floating nativity scene that has been set up for over 20 years by the "Amici del presepio" association of Cassone.
