BAGNO VIGNONI

Bagno Vignoni is a small and extraordinary village in the heart of the Val d'Orcia, among the green hills of Siena. This place owes its fame to the square of water fed by a spring. The water that flows from the spring at a depth of 1000 meters goes back to the surface and is collected in the town square. The water temperature fixed at 52 ° degrees, creates extraordinary scenographic effects, especially in winter, when it comes into contact with cold air. And then all around, stone houses, flowered balconies, squares, workshops of artists and craftsmen, create an extraordinary architectural ensemble that makes Bagno Vignoni one of the most beautiful villages in the world. The ancient history of the Baths of Bagno Vignoni is testified by the illustrious guests who loved it. First of all, Lorenzo de Medici, called "Il Magnifico", a man of great humanistic culture and political ability, who allowed him to govern Florence increasing the prestige and strength of his city. He used to retire to the baths of Bagno Vignoni to take care of himself and study, embraced by the green hills that he loved so much.
