CURON VENOSTA AND THE CAMPANILE IN THE LAKE

Curon Venosta is a town in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano in Trentino-Alto Adige. Often the town of Curon is erroneously called "Resia" (Reschen), due to the popularity of the homonymous village. In its territory there is the lake of Resia, an artificial lake for the production of hydroelectric energy, whose construction caused the disappearance of the ancient town of Curon, which was rebuilt further upstream (1950). Only the bell tower of the old church continues to emerge from the water, so much so that it has become one of the main attractions of the village. The San Valentino alla Muta weather station, officially recognized by the World Meteorological Organization, is also located in the municipal territory.
