Marble sculpture by Michelangelo Buonarroti between 1501 and 1504. The moment depicted in the marble is the one that precedes the throwing of the stone that will kill Goliath. The authors avoided in fact the representation of the action in its fulfillment. David with his proud attitude soon became the symbol of Florence. In fact, the heroic behavior of the protagonist well represented the intention of the Florentine people to fight against every tyranny
